BRILLIANT Bankies booked their spot in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup with a stunning 2-0 win at home to SPFL League One side Clyde.
Goals in either half from Jamie Darroch and captain Nicky Little helped Gordon Moffat’s men cement their spot in Monday night’s draw, when the Scottish Premiership sides enter the competition.
Moff made five changes to the side that beat Glenrothes last weekend, with Jamie Donnelly, Matt Niven, Chris Black, Lee Gallacher and Joe Slattery all restored to the starting eleven.
The all important opener arrived just before the break when Lee Gallacher’s free kick found its way to Jamie Darroch via Matt Niven, and the long serving defender rattled the ball in via the underside of the crossbar.
Clearly buoyed by the opener, Bankies flew out of the traps in the second period and sustained that level of intensity for the full second period.
Moffat’s men were relentless in their search for a second and came agonisingly close from a brilliant counter attack, with Little’s curling effort from 25 yards landing on the roof of the net with Parry beaten.
On 64 minutes, Holm Park erupted as Bankies doubled their lead. Lee Gallacher was again the provider, sending in a free kick from the left that skipper Little headed home as bedlam ensued on the Clydeside terracing.
Clydebank now go into the hat for the fourth round draw, which takes place on BBC Scotland on Monday evening after fellow WOSFL side Darvel take on Highland League side Brechin City.
