We are delighted to confirm the signing of experienced defender Connor Greene.
The 27-year-old former East Stirlingshire captain joins us until the end of the season and will be available for loan as he looks to get valuable minutes under his belt.
Bankies boss Gordon Moffat said: “Connor was one we looked at maybe over a year ago now. He was captain at East Stirlingshire and did really well there, but finished up there at the end of the season and circumstances with his job meant he couldn’t play football for a while. He’s a local boy, so when it became clear that his work situation had improved for the better in football terms, we reached out.
We’ve had him in training for four or five weeks now, so it was a good time to bring him in. He will need to go out and get some game time as he has had no pre-season or minutes at all this season, so we will need to get him up to speed.
He’s got good experience at a higher level, was very well thought of at East Stirlingshire and was actually up there in terms of the goalscoring charts as well last year. He’s a confident boy and just needs to get match fit.”
Connor added: “I’m Clydebank born and raised so started with Antonine Boys Club then moved on to Falkirk at 11. I was there full time until I was 18 then went to East Stirlingshire at League Two level and played with them for nine years. I had a year at Darvel around the COVID season, but was back at East Stirlingshire for the last couple of years as captain.
“I’ve played with Nicky (Low) at East Stirlingshire and I’ve basically known James (Grant) all my life, he went to the same school as me and played at Antonine as well.
“I’ve really enjoyed my first few weeks around the club, and from the first training session all the boys made me feel really welcome. Training has been tough, but I want to be part of it moving forward.”
