Gordon Moffat signs contract extension

Clydebank FC are delighted to announce manager Gordon Moffat has signed a new long term contract.

Moff has put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him commit his future to the Bankies until the summer of 2026.

Since joining in September 2019, he has won 86 of the 147 games he has been in charge of, giving him an undefeated winning percentage of over 70%.

Heading into 2024 at the top of the West of Scotland Premier Division, he commented: “I’m obviously delighted to sign an extension, there was never really anything else in my mind. It gives a bit of security on both sides, which is important. When we’re trying to bring players to the club – most recently Craig Truesdale, who we’ve also signed on a long term contract – it’s important for them to know the backroom staff and I are going to be here. We have that continuity, and it will also help when we are sitting down with a lot more of the players in the next month or so.

“The steady progression over the four years is there for everyone to see. The first couple of years were a bit curtailed with COVID, but since then we’ve had back to back top four finishes, the cup final last year and are in a decent position this year – though still a lot of work to do. From where we were, the progress has been good and we can see that trajectory.

“Grace and the board deserve a lot of credit for continuing to push things as well. We’ve made great strides off the park, and they have continued to try and squeeze the budget and we’re now at a level where I’d say we were competitive, and that makes things easier for me to try and put a competitive team on the pitch. Obviously we still need to pick the right players and get the right recruitment, but it makes it easier when we do that.

“That’s made possible with all the club sponsors and the different revenue streams that Bill and the commercial guys have achieved. So that, coupled with everything else that is going on around the club is one big team and we’re going in the right direction.

“I’ve got a great team around me; from my backroom of coaches to the support staff. Ian and Ashley’s knowledge on the medical side of things as well as Ross and Jen’s professionalism from a kit perspective is really important, and I can’t wait to see what 2024 holds.”

Clydebank chairman Grace McGibbon added: We’re over the moon that Moff has agreed to put pen to paper and extended his contract with us. Although he was no stranger to the club, since he came in as manager he has bought fully into the ethos and embraced our endeavours and ambition to move through the pyramid.

Having a stable management team gives us the best platform to attract and retain the best players available, and we’ll do what we can as a board to continue giving him all the resources we have available to continue building for the future.
