New Clydebank signing James Grant joked it’s nice to have ‘Uncle Stevie’ off his back – after the defender put pen to paper with his local club.
The 23-year-old right back James is the nephew of lifelong Bankie and former chairman Stevie McLaren, and joins us after a spell with Broomhill in the Lowland League.
Duntocher based James explained: “I’ve had Stevie on my back for a few years now, so I’m sure he’ll be delighted to see that I’m finally here.
“I really enjoyed my time at Broomhill, even though the season didn’t pan out as well as we hoped. It was a good season for me personally where I played almost every game and it was good to have that experience of playing week in, week out.
“I want to get on the ball from the back and when I get the chance to go forward, hopefully I can get some crosses in the box.”
“I just want to try and get myself in the team, and once I do that to try and stay in. As a team, hopefully we can look to try and build on what the club achieved last season and have another good one ahead.”
