We are excited to announce Oisin McHugh has been named the club’s new vice captain.

The 22-year-old Bankies Academy graduate will succeed Jamie Darroch in the role following his appointment as player coach.

Having made his debut in 2019, local lad Oisin is fast approaching his 100th first team appearance and will form part of the leadership group under club captain Nicky Little, with Adam Hodge and Lee Gallacher continuing to make up that group.

Explaining the decision, Jamie explained: “After discussing it with the gaffer, we felt it was the right time for somebody else and with my role changing it seemed like a good time. It has been such a privilege to be vice captain of the club, but transitioning out of the role won’t change how I play on a Saturday.

“In terms of choosing Oisin to take over, it just seems a perfect fit. It’s the natural progression for him, he’s now leading with his performances in training and in games to a very high level, and will be a superb vice captain to Nicky.

Oisin added: “I was just coming out for training last week and the gaffer pulled me aside, told me the situation with JD and said they thought I was right for the part.

“I’ve known JD and Nicky since I was 17 so it feels great they’ve obviously seen some leadership qualities in me to take it on.
